Abigail Spanberger’s Candidate Story

Abigail Spanberger, representing Virginia's Seventh Congressional District, brings a diverse background in law enforcement and intelligence to her role in Congress. Her career began with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, where she worked on narcotics and money laundering cases. Spanberger then joined the CIA as a case officer, serving abroad in intelligence gathering and asset management.

Transitioning to elected office in 2017, Spanberger now serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, where she chairs the Conservation and Forestry Subcommittee. Her unique experiences in federal law enforcement and international intelligence inform her approach to national security and domestic policy.
