Lanon Baccam's journey from son of Laotian immigrants to combat veteran and public servant embodies the American dream he now fights to preserve. Enlisting in the Iowa National Guard at 17, Lanon deployed to Afghanistan in 2004. After his service, he used the GI Bill to attend Drake University before joining the USDA, where he supported veterans and rural communities. Now running for Congress, Lanon focuses on creating opportunities for Iowans through good-paying jobs, affordable healthcare, and protecting women's reproductive freedoms. His diverse experience in military service, agriculture policy, and rural development informs his mission to serve all Iowans, regardless of party or background.
