Giona Picheco

Giona Picheco ran for election to the Rhode Island House of Representatives to represent District 14. Giona enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Fire Control Technician and served on a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine for six years. She studied the ins and outs of the ship, practiced emergency response, stood guard duty from the middle of the night to the busiest times of day, and was well trained in the operation and maintenance of the combat system. Giona honorably completed her service in 2019 and went on to be a strong advocate for veterans and the LGBTQ community.
