Endorsement: Gina Ortiz Jones for Congress in Texas' 23rd District

Earlier today, we endorsed Gina Ortiz Jones in her race for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District. Gina is an Iraq War veteran and former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer. She received her commission after attending Boston University on an ROTC scholarship, and went on to serve the entirety of her military career under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Out of uniform, Gina served as a senior advisor on defense intelligence and economic security. In 2018, she came within 926 votes of defeating incumbent Congressman Will Hurd, who is not running for reelection. Following the campaign, Gina was a New Politics Senior Fellow.

Here’s what Emily had to say about Gina: “We’re proud to endorse Gina Ortiz Jones because she has a proven record of putting her country first. Gina’s selfless commitment to service are exactly what’s missing in Washington. We have no doubt that in Congress, she will lead with courage and integrity for the people of Texas 23.”

And here’s what Ortiz Jones had to say: “The New Politics team is empowering servant leaders across the country to step up and put people over partisan politics. I’m proud to be part of this incredible movement and honored to have their support.”
